Chlorination is a reliable method to disinfect water for industrial and municipal uses, but not all disinfection systems deliver the same value. Water-intensive industrial operations need solutions that ease containment challenges, mitigate risks from accidental release, and reduce operational and application costs. More and more, customers want to replace chlorine gas and other less reliable disinfection systems with calcium hypochlorite-based technologies.

Solenis’ calcium hypochlorite-based disinfectants, which were previously sold under the HTH and HTH Scientific brands, are reliable, cost-effective solutions for treating cooling water, process water, wastewater and potable water. Marketed today as Biosperse CH70 disinfectants, these best-in-class products* are produced onsite using unique, dry chemical chips and an innovative chip feeder system to safely produce a fresh, on-demand, concentrated liquid-chlorine solution that effectively controls bacteria and algae and reduces the risk of organic contaminants. Several of the disinfectants can also be used as oxidizing agents in certain industrial applications.

Commercial applications confirm that Biosperse CH70 disinfectants provide several benefits for industrial and municipal operations:

Consistent chlorine production for reliable disinfection

Dry formulation for shelf stability and easy handling

Reduced shipping and handling costs

Minimized storage requirements

Reduced maintenance

Chemical Chips and Chip Feeder System

The dry chemical chips used to produce Biosperse CH70 disinfectants are NSF/ANSI standard 60 compliant and feature a small, compressed shape that creates a well-packed dissolution bed, resulting in high-strength 65% minimum AvCL output. Due to their compact and dry form, the chemical chips are safer and less expensive to ship, deliver and store as compared to gaseous and liquid chlorine that is supplied in cylinders and other containers.

The chip feeder system features a compact design with easy access for chemical loading, helping to simplify operation and reduce maintenance costs. The feeder system can be used as is to feed the disinfectant or the system can be used in combination with our OnGuard™ monitoring and control system to provide around-the-clock surveillance and control of the disinfection program.

Notably, industrial and municipal operations can treat up to 45 million liters of water per day using a single feeder system.
